Fitness is a necessity but at the same time, this is also true that there is very small time left for taking care of our fitness. There are a few lucky ones who get this real time to visit a gym. So, most of us prefer to work on their fitness at home. This is why multipurpose home gym equipments are becoming very popular. Equipments like treadmill and vibration power plates are very popular at present just because these equipments need little time and can provide desired results.

I am a Nutrition & Wellness major and I have found that people go supplement crazy. Just because vitamins and minerals are good for us they can also be very harmful taken in large dosages. Especially the fat soluble vitamins because are bodies store them. The water soluble vitamins just get excreted in urine when they are taken in large dosages. Also vitamins, and minerals and anything sold in GMC are not FDA approved so the general population needs to be extra careful when using these.

Hi Danielle!

I was one of the three attendees last Saturday at Fitness First in Arlington. I enjoyed the session and really appreciated the goal setting process.

I have two questions for you; first, can you add me to your newsletter listserv or is that just for your clients? Also, if you are going to set up a Cooking Club please let me know! My boyfriend (who is a nutrition nut) and I would love to be a part of something like that if our schedules allow. The second question I had is about my work. We have a "Healthy Companies" Committe that provides extracurricular activities to our colleagues. In the past, we've basically been the party planning committee but I want us to be more dynamic than that. I thought of you instantly. We have had brown bag sessions in the past where we have an expert from different fields (career or financial usually) come in pro bono to give us a quick tutorial or session. Is that something you could or would want to do? I can't guarantee that it would lead to new clients but there is certainly a possibility! The session would probably have anywhere from about 10 to 30 people attending I'm guessing.

Anyway, let me know what you think! Have a great rest of the week too!

Sincerely,
Lindsay Bartholf

You can even put the audio and video on your tv!

Here's a video description of how to do it. It's a little convoluted, but I can't describe it any better:
http://cnettv.cnet.com/2001-1_53-25307.html

Equipment you'll need is the following:
For video --
A single RCA cable, an S Video cable, an HDMI cable, or a 15-pin VGA cable depending on your computer outputs.

For audio --
A Stereo RCA cable (with two RCA jacks)
and possibly one Stereo RCA to 1/8" headphone jack converter

These items are readily available at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City -- really anyplace that sells A/V equipment. Good luck getting it set up, and if you have any problems, leave a comment and I'll try to help!

During the last economic downturn in 2000/2001, I went through a layoff at my company. I knew we were going to get laid off before it happened: our company went from 4200 to 800 people, and our local Arlington office went from 280 people to 13 people. I had also just bought a new car and a house 6 months earlier -- talk about stress!

One nice thing about having worked for a dot-com is that they blew a lot of money on things companies would consider somewhat frivolous expenditures today -- including a gym and an ice hockey table. Since there wasn't much work to do, I spent a lot of time in that gym, and I worked out more than I have at any other time in my life. I also got to be an expert at table ice hockey!

Anyhow, I finally did get laid off in February (in the midst of Winter ... what a depressing time to get laid off!) of 2001, but was able to manage my stress, avoid depression, and start my own company which is still thriving today. I think that working out had a lot to do with giving me a positive outlook on myself, as well as providing the natural chemical boost to keep my spirits up through a tough time. I think your article is right on the mark!
